Need for speed carbonIn case you lived in a cave for the last few years, you probably don’t know about the NFS series. This is one of the most popular games in the world developed by EA Games. If you are familiar with the series you probably know that the last 3 NFS games were a disappointment to the fans.

Starting with Underground, EA let go of the simulation type of game that we got used to in Porsche Unleashed, and concentrated on arcade games only. This was disappointing because NFS used to be the best at this type of games. Now this game is all about tuning your ride, which is actually cool because lots of people these days are caught up with this fab. It is certain that NFS: Underground 2 was the most complete game of all, considering the actual tuning aspects. Most Wanted brought back the police into the action. This way, besides the actual races, you got the opportunity to run from the law and destroy a few of their vehicles on the way.

Carbon, one of the most uninspired names ever given to a NFS, brings us a few features that make this games worth your time.

First of all, this game is special because it brings the fans lots of cars. In this game, there is a car for every taste: muscles, tuners and exotics. You can choose from a variety of cars, including the ’67 Shelby Mustang, VW Golf R32, Dodge Charger SRT, Dodge Challenger, Mercedes SL 65 AMG, Plymouth Hemi Cuda, Audi Le Mans Quattro, BMW M3 GTR, Koenigsegg CCX, Pagani Zonda and most of the cars from the previous games in the series. Anyway, don’t get too excited because you can’t actually race with most of the exotic cars I listed below. They are only available in the quick race mode. Also you can’t make any modification to them, in fact, you can’t even change the paint.

This game also brought something new on stage: you have 3 tiers of cars, so you can’t make a Mazda compete against a SLR Mc Laren or a Gallardo. Another new feature is the way you paint and decorate your car: there are a lot of types of paint and a lot of vinyls to choose from. Also you can change mostly every aspect of the vinyl, including the position and so on.

Tuning your ride is a better developed comparing to the previous games of the series. You have a brand new option at your disposal: autosculpt. You can mostly modify every aspect of your ride’s exterior, like: the hood, the rims, the spoiler, the front and back bumpers, the side skirts etc.

The gameplay also suffered a few changes. You are now in the position of a racer who has to prove everybody that he is the best. You have a hole crew to rely on, and you deffinetly need their support in races. You have 3 types of crew members that you rely on: drafters, scouts and blockers. They play an important role in races and they are present to make sure you can win. You no longer have a “blacklist” like in Most Wanted. Your adversaries have their own territory which you have to take from them. Also your territory will be constantly attacked by other racers. Just make sure you win every time.

For all you fans who like online playing EA has made you a big surprise. In NFS: Carbon you can play the role of the police officer. Your job is not that easy: you have to participate in high speed pursuits and stop other racers from doing what they do best.

As a conclusion, NFS: Carbon is a game you should try out. Although it has a lot of bugs and problems, it also brings a lot of new stuff to the fans of the series. Have fun!
